Eagle Eye

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Jerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move.

This movie features and couple of exellent action scenes and especially a car chase, simply… wow! Some times the movie slows down so much that you almost fall asleep metaphorically speaking. But overall an okay movie well worth a rental.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

After hearing good things about “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, I decided to go see it. If you haven’t heard what this movie is about here is a quick recap.

‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,’ adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918 to the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be.

Starring is Brad Pitt and Cate Blachett in a superb film, great acting and a fantastic story makes this movie one of the greats. The way Brad Pitt makes Benjamin Button come to life is amazing. Cate Blachett’s part as Daisy is beautifully portrayed through out the film as you engage into this amazing but  unusual story. The length of the movie is 2 hours and 46 minutes and many might say that this is too long, but I can personally say that this is the perfect length for this movie. For my sake it could have been 20 minutes or even 30 minutes longer if not more. I got sucked into the story and felt the pain of the characters and the feelings between them. If you have about 3 hours to spare, I can recommend this movie.

Heroes: Season One

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

After finishing watching Heroes season one for the second time I thought about making a mini review. When Heroes first aired July 22. 2006 it sky rocketed to the top of the viewer ratings list in the States and soon the rest of the world followed.

The first characters  the are introduced in the series is Peter Petrelli a private nurse taking care of dying patients. Soon he discovers that he is destined for something very different, and so are many others who are soon entangled in a complicated, but entertaining adventure of drama and supernatural abilities.

Throughout the series the drama gets more and more intense and at the end of each episode the is a gigantic cliff-hanger that makes you want to watch another episode. The characters in the series are interesting and all of them act really well all the way thought the series.

This season is worth getting on DVD or Blu-ray if you liked watching the series on TV. I can almost guarantee the you will watch it again and again.

Lakeview Terrace

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

“Chris Mattson and Lisa Mattson, a young interracial couple, have just moved into their California dream home when they become the target of their next-door neighbor, who disapproves of their interracial relationship. A stern, widowed-single father of two, LAPD officer Abel Turner is the watchdog of the neighborhood. His nightly foot patrols and overly watchful eyes bring comfort to some, but he becomes increasingly harassing to the newlyweds. The persistent intrusions into the lives of Chris and Lisa ultimately take a turn for the worse when the couple decides to fight back.” - IMDb, 2008.

Lakeview Terrace is a good thriller about racial hate and downright bad neighbours. I can recommend this as a rental but I doubt that it will be worth the money to get for your collection unless you’re a hardcore Samuel L. Jackson fan.

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Allan Quatermain and The Lost City of Gold

Sunday, October 26th, 2008
