Trials HD

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Xbox Live’s Summer of arcade hit big this year with games like Splosion Man and Shadow Complex  The game in question is Trials HD in my own opinion one of the most entertaining Xbox Live games ever released. I can some up the game with three words.

Fun, Frustrating and Challenging.

Your objective in this game is to ride your trial bike through a track and contains several obstacles that you have to complete with as few faults as possible. You will fly through the first track no problem, but after a while you wish had never bought the game in the first place (in a good way of course). Some of the tracks are so frustating that I had to turn off my Xbox and and leave it for a few minutes just to cool down. As of now I’ve completed all but 3 of 4 tracks in the expert difficulty but the completion far out into the future.

In the graphics department the game fares very welll for an arcade title and the controlsdo as well. It’s well worth the 1200 Microsoft points that it costs.

Jumper Griffin’s Story

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Jumper: Griffin’s Story based on the 2008 movie by the name Jumper. Let me be clear, this is an aweful game. After about 20 minutes you will have around 350-450 achievement points and then it suddenly takes a hard turn and gets quite hard. The game is aweful in every aspect except the cartoon cut scenes those are very good. The controls are confusing and stiff, the grapfics are bad, the camera is all over the place and the sounds is terrible. The bottom line is, the only reason to play this game is to get the achivements nothing more.

Battlefield 1943

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

DICE has done it yet again, last time it was Battlefield: Bad Company and now they have brought WWII back in the game with the Frostbite Engine and all I can say is that it’s exellent. The cost of this game is 1200MS Points and that’s well worth it, there are hours upon hours of gameplay in this download.

See you on the battlefield.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Single Player:

The singleplayer campaign is one of the best I’ve ever played only surpassed by Call of Duty: World at War. You get sucked into the story line as you switch between the British S.A.S.’ Sgt. John “SOAP” McTavish and the U.S. Marine Force Recon as Sgt. Paul Jackson. The missions are action packed and not very long, two things that make you play even more missions in one sitting as it doesn’t feel like you are spending that much time on your computer. Graphics-wise this game completely blew me away when I first saw it when it was released late 2007. And today I’m still amazed, it will even run on a now lower spec’ed machine without much trouble. The audio and soundtrack in this game is magnificent, I’ve managed in some of the later missions of the game to completely loose my calm as the games musical soundtrack kicks in with a bang. Absolutely beautiful.

All in all, if you haven’t played this game it’s an absolute killer that you will return to again and again.

Call of Duty: World at War

Gameplay: 5/5
This is going to be a very short paragraph, the gameplay just works, you get sucked in very quickly and lose track of time. The controls also just works like a charm and as they should. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes the enemies just stand there and aim at you but doesn’t shoot but if you get close enough, they charge at you.

Graphics: 4/5
The graphics in this game is very nicely done. The characters are very detailed and very well made. The landscapes the the open fields are “just” okay graphics wise but on the other hand the builds are outstanding and make the scenarios very claustrophobic that is just ace and makes your heart race a bit faster.

Audio: 5/5
Let me just start off with this, I don’t have a great sounds setup but it is a HIFI setup and the sound in this game is amazing. The soundtrack is brilliant and makes you feel like you’re in an action movie of some sort. The voice action is brilliant as well altough I can tell that some of the German soldiers and recycled material, this is not necesarily a bad thing but it’s just a thing I noticed.

Football Manager 2006

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

After many years I’ve returned to one of my favorite gaming series Football Manager/Championship Manager. Not much have changed it’s still very fun and very time consuming. When I first got it for the exellent price of 27 DKR I thought to myself; “How much will I actually play this game, is it worth my time?”. Well after the first weekend I got my answer, I have played it for 15 hours pretty good considering I only had 48 in total to game in.

If you have some cash to splash and a lot of time on your hands this is a game for you. Oh and you have to like football by the way.

Call of Duty 2

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

The time came to start on the Call of Duty series again, I have 2 games lined up so far Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty: World at War. We are going to start with Call of Duty 2 as I haven’t even unwrapped Call of Duty: World at War yet.

To sum up the games content there are 10 missions that take you through 3 different campains. You start off as the Soviets then the British and then the Americans. To be fair I’m having a hard time getting through this game because I’m trying to complete it on Veteran difficulty (the hardest difficulty). But it’s really fun and challenging, the A.I. does a good enough job finding you and aims fairly well. Often you have to wait them out and then shoot them in the face before you have storm through to the next session. The graphics doesn’t look like a 2005 game compared to a game like King Kong also er ’05 game this looks miles better and controls alot better too.

I can definately recommend this game if you are into WWII games and and haven’t already tried it.

Forza Motorsport 2

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

The game I’m speding the most time on at the moment is Forza Motorsport 2, I’ve had it since it launched back in May 2007  but never completed it. So now I’m trying to burn through all these races. I’ve completed 79% of the game up until now and I’ve spent 41 hours on it so theres still a good 10-15 hours in at maybe even more.

An top of that there’s alot of achievements to be had, right now I’m going for the last endurance race in the Endurance Race series, 40 laps of just going round and round. A bit boring really, but I’m willing to spend that time on it. After this achievement I have collected 468G/1000 so still alot of points left.

The best thing about this game is that you keep playing it, but I don’t think it has any replay value what so ever when you complete the offline/single player segment. The graphics are great and still good compared with newer racing games.

Roll on Forza motorsport 3!

Eagle Eye

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Jerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move.

This movie features and couple of exellent action scenes and especially a car chase, simply… wow! Some times the movie slows down so much that you almost fall asleep metaphorically speaking. But overall an okay movie well worth a rental.

Heroes: Season One

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

After finishing watching Heroes season one for the second time I thought about making a mini review. When Heroes first aired July 22. 2006 it sky rocketed to the top of the viewer ratings list in the States and soon the rest of the world followed.

The first characters  the are introduced in the series is Peter Petrelli a private nurse taking care of dying patients. Soon he discovers that he is destined for something very different, and so are many others who are soon entangled in a complicated, but entertaining adventure of drama and supernatural abilities.

Throughout the series the drama gets more and more intense and at the end of each episode the is a gigantic cliff-hanger that makes you want to watch another episode. The characters in the series are interesting and all of them act really well all the way thought the series.

This season is worth getting on DVD or Blu-ray if you liked watching the series on TV. I can almost guarantee the you will watch it again and again.
